What is pink eye or conjunctivitis?

"Pink eye" is commonly used to refer to conjunctivitis, which is the medical term for inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane that lines the white part of the eyes. There are three main types of conjunctivitis; 1) Bacterial conjunctivitis, 2) Viral conjunctivitis, and 3) Allergic conjunctivitis.
 

What causes conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis can therefore be caused by bacterial infection, viral infection, or from allergic reaction all causing the eyes to look pink and irritated.
