The Chow Way

Our practice provides comprehensive eye examinations and treatments, which can be performed in both English and Chinese.


Your eye examinations may be covered by insurance or OHIP.


We have two conveniently located offices at CF Markville Mall and Scarborough Town Centre.

Dr. Lisa Chow, OD
Dr. Mindy Chow, OD

Dr. Lisa Chow graduated from the University of Waterloo with a bachelor of Biomedical Science and Psychology. Following graduation, she attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her doctor of optometry degree with advanced training in Pediatrics.

Dr. Chow completed her external rotations at the Baltimore Veteran Affairs Hospital where she focused mainly on ocular diseases. She also attended lectures at the Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins University. In addition, Dr. Chow traveled to Singapore for her clinical clerkship and also participated and assisted in organizing a mission trip to Dangriga, Belize in 2009 as the executive member of the Student Optometric Service to Humanity.  

Dr. Chow also served as the screening director for the National Optometric Student Association and contributed numerous hours organizing vision screenings around her community.


During her last year of undergraduate studies, Dr. Chow worked at the UW contact lens research center where she published an article on “Lactoferrin Deposition on Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses”
in 2009.  


Presently, Dr. Chow is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and also engages in a joint program between the Toronto District School Board and the Vision Institute of Canada to provide high school students with comprehensive eye exam and spectacle dispensing in the schools.


She believes in providing quality eye exams in a timely efficient manner and is passionate about providing clear and comfortable vision to her patients.


Dr. Mindy Chow was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, where her passion for science, and the eyes, developed from a young age. Dr. Chow holds a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science, with a minor in Psychology, from

the University of Waterloo. She completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), Salus University, and was a member of the

International Optometric Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society, graduating among the top of her class.

Dr. Chow holds extensive clinical experience including externships at Veterans Affair Hospital in New Hampshire and Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation Eye Clinic in

Alaska. While in Alaska, she volunteered on three mission trips that provided remote villages with access to vision care. She also has clinical experience practicing in

Greenville, North Carolina.

She has diagnosed and managed patients with a variety of eye conditions including glaucoma, age macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachments. She is also experienced in paediatric care and vision therapy, having helped children with functional binocular and accommodative problems, through the internship at PCO.

Currently, aside from practising at the clinic, Dr. Chow also collaborates with Dr. Joseph Ma, OMD, a renowned ophthalmologist. She assists with cataract, corneal and

refractive surgery consultations (i.e LASIK and PRK) and provides post-operative follow-up care.

Dr. Chow has completed the Canadian and American board certification (CACO and NBEO) and is an active member of Canadian Optometric Association (CAO) and the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO). She is certified to provide therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for treatment of diagnostic eye diseases.

Dr. Chow is fluent in English and Cantonese, and speaks basic Mandarin. She is dedicated to providing quality vision care and strives to establish long-lasting patient relationships. She welcomes new patients.

Dr. Kristy Lam, OD

Dr. Kristy Lam received both her Bachelor of Honours Science and Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo where she graduated with Dean’s Honour.  Dr. Lam completed a clinical externship at the Lexington Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky where she gained extensive experience in diagnosing, counseling and managing ocular diseases such as cataracts, dry eye syndrome, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma. As part of her clinical training, she also interned at primary care clinics in Markham, Mississauga and Waterloo, with training in pediatric exams, contact lens fitting, binocular vision, low vision and pre-operative and post-operative refractive surgery (LASIK) exams.


Dr. Lam had the privilege to participate in a volunteer eye care missions to Honduras, where they provided full ocular-visual assessments, dispensed donated spectacles and medications and arranged surgery for those in need of secondary care.  She also volunteered with Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes providing vision test for athletes. She hopes to continue to participate in eye care missions around the world.


Her clinical interest lies in providing full spectrum family vision care, especially paediatric eye care and diagnosing and managing of ocular diseases. Dr. Lam is certified to use of oral and ocular therapeutics to treat ocular disease. She is also able to provide eye examinations in English and Cantonese. She looks forward to improve quality of life of people through optimizing their vision and educating of eye health. 

Dr. Brian Yeung is a homegrown graduate of Ryerson University, and graduated as an optometrist from the prestigious Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.  He has completed numerous internships in multiple optometry and ophthalmology settings in the United States, including The Villages Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Florida, the Talley Eye Institute in Indiana, and private practice experience in Idaho.  Throughout his training, Dr. Yeung has gained valuable experiences in treating and managing ocular diseases, an area which he believes is becoming a larger focus for optometrists in the betterment of ocular health awareness.


During his education at the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Yeung notably served as the President of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Optometrists group, a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and earned the distinguished title of Student Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.  Through the school, he was also able to participate in multiple medical optometry mission trips to Guatemala and Honduras.

As a sports fanatic, he loves playing softball and other sports in his spare time. He enjoys spending time with family and friends catching movies and TV shows, as well as sketching as a hobby.

Dr. Lagini Nithiyanantham, OD

Dr. Lagini Nithiyanantham is an established and a skilled Optometrist, currently practicing in the Greater Toronto Area. She has completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in biology from University of Waterloo. She then completed her degree in Optometry from Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Upon returning to Canada, Dr. Lagini successfully completed the Optometry conversion program at the University of Waterloo in 2016 and the Canadian equivalent board examinations (CACO) in 2017. 


Dr. Lagini has completed internship rotations at Chesterfield Eye Hospital in UK and in various private Optometry clinics in Ontario. She has gained experience in the management and treatment of ocular diseases such as diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome and glaucoma. She is also trained in the follow-up care for cataract patients and pre- & post- operative refractive surgery patients. Moreover, she is trained in paediatric optometry and binocular vision through her internship at Birmingham Children's Hospital Eye department in UK. 


Dr. Lagini is dedicated to providing the highest quality of vision care and passionate about new treatment modalities available to enhance eye health. She is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is fluent in both English and Tamil and can perform eye examinations in both languages. Her interests outside the office include travelling, playing the violin and spending time with family and friends.
