Health of Your Eyes
The health of your eyes is extremely important. Many people commonly have misconceptions that if their eyes are seeing well and vision is fine, that the eyes are healthy in general. However, what many people do not know is that there are many serious and vision threatening diseases that have no initial symptoms or early signs. By getting an eye exam with us, we are able to diagnose as well as treat or monitor eye conditions at their early stages for a chance of maintaining good vision.
A comprehensive eye exam not only take a look at your vision and eye health but it can also be a good indicator of your overall health. Health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension can be detected through looking at the back of the eye with pupil dilation.
What to expect during your eye examination with us
Dr. Lisa Chow and Dr. Mindy Chow are doctors of optometry who are committed to becoming your ongoing eye care provider to ensure the health of your eyes and your family. As doctors of optometry, we diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases and disorders of the ocular health and visual system.
When you first come into our office, you will go through a series of testing where our technicians will measure the curvature of your cornea and measure an estimate of your glasses prescription. We will also screen your eyes for elevated intraocular pressures to determine your risk for developing glaucoma. A measurement of your current glasses prescription will be done to allow us to see how much your prescription changed since your last eye exam.
Meeting the Doctor
Dr. Chow and associates will first go through a detailed history of your ocular health and understand your visual demands as well as your general systemic health conditions. With this information, we can help detect along with your family doctor general health conditions that may be often seen with a dilated eye examination.
